Toyota’s luxury arm, established in 1989, consistently scores strongly in customer satisfaction surveys, but the Japanese brand is still considered a left-field choice compared with the likes of Mercedes, BMW and Audi.
That’s at least partially down to the fact that Lexus boycotts diesel engines, preferring to offer hybrids that are more popular in the United States and Japan. That trend could be replicated in the UK in the near future, though, as legislation forces diesel engines to use more expensive technology to clean up their particulate emissions.
The Lexus line-up features the CT200h hatchback and saloons like the IS, GS and LS – but the firm is also well known for its SUVs, the RX and the most recent offering, the NX.
